The month of November you will have to “earn” the feathers to save good ole Mr. Turkey.  Print out THIS PICTURE and cut out the turkey and his feathers.  You can earn a feather for each time you run.  Once you have earned and glued on all the feathers – take a picture next to your turkey and have your parents email it to info@momsrunthistown.com.  We will pick one winner at random for a Thanksgiving surprise!  Happy Running!

I’ve heard so much controversy on how often or how much their children should run… so my best answer is ask your kiddo’s doc and do what seems right for your child.  I know – that’s kinda a cop out answer, but at the same time – I think a lot of factors play into it.  If your child is overweight, while it’s good for them to exercise – it’s also more weight on the joints.  It may be best to start healthy eating habits first before starting something like running.  But again – I’m no doc.  I did let my 2 year old participate in a 200meter dash… and that’s about all she could handle.  So just pay attention to their bodies – start with running on a track so they are never too far from the car and you can learn what distances they can handle and for how long.  If they get tired – it’s much easier to walk the rest of the track then have to run 2 miles back home…

This is a month long event that will encourage kids ages 2-14 get out there and run or walk!  Here’s how the event will work:

For the month of OCTOBER your little divas and dudes will log their miles.  Let them borrow your gps watch, measure the distance in your neighborhood or let them run on a track…. we aren’t being exact here – but PLEASE try to be as accurate as possible!!!  Keep a log for each day they walk/run.  At the end of the month we will post a form for you to fill out to log their miles.

We will tally up the total miles for everyone participating and see who RULES THE ROAD – is it the DIVAS or is it the DUDES!!!
The winning gender will be the “prize pool” for the grand prize – but we will have prizes for BOTH genders!!!

Prizes from Fresh Feet Wipes, FuelBelt, Bondi Band and INKnBURN. Other prizes will be determined on number of registrants.

Since a lot of our mamas have more than one kiddo – we decided to give a price break:

1 child: $11
2 children : $20 ($10/ea)
3 children: $27 ($9/ea)
4 children: $32 ($8/ea)

We will also use extra money to go toward our “Kickin’ Kids” fund which will provide “fun money” to different kids who need a pick-me-up.  More details on this soon!!!

Things you need to know:

• Miles are only to be counted from Oct 1st – Oct 31st.  We are only doing a pre-order this soon because of the ordering time frame for the custom medals.
• Medals are custom ordered and will take approx 2 months to come in.  We will order Sept 1st and they will come in around the end of October.  We have to process, pack, and ship the medals but they will go out as SOON as we get them in and ready to ship!!!
• Because these are custom ordered we will have to cut off the ordering process on September 1st unless we order extras – and then those will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
• Prizes will be drawn at random – this is not a time based or distance based award system.  We just encourage you to get your kids moving no matter the distance!
• There are no refunds or transfers
• PLEASE make sure your paypal address is correct.  We will ship medals to your paypal address and we are not responsible for medals lost due to inaccurate shipping info!
